Aftercare

Proper Tattoo After-Care Instructions:

Do’s
Always wash hands properly before taking care of your tattoo.
After about 30 minutes, carefully take bandage off of your tattoo.
Wash your tattoo off with warm and soapy water, preferably a mild anti-bacterial soap.
Rinse off tattoo completely with water, make sure no remaining soap is left on your tattoo.
Apply preffered AQUAPHOR ointment to your tattoo. Keep in mind that you want to moisturize your tattoo, not saturate it. It is very important to do this, because your tattoo needs air to properly heal. Do this once in the morning, and once at night, washing your tattoo off periodically during the day. Aquaphor can usually be found at any pharmacy. You can also use vitamin A and D ointment, but Aquaphor is preferred and it virtually costs the same. Discontinue use and come see me if you have complications or reactions.
Apply ointment for about1 and a ½ to 2 weeks, and wait for your tattoo to finish peeling and flaking off, which is normal.
After the tattoo has completely peeled and flaked, you will be left with a new layer of shiny skin. Once you tattoo is in this state, I would suggest putting an unscented therapeutic lotion for about another 2 weeks, and then every once in a while after that. Taking care of your skin in which the tattoo is located is very important.

Dont’s
Do not re-bandage your tattoo.
Do not listen to your friends advice. They are not professional tattooers, and do not know what’s best for your tattoo.
Do not swim or soak in any fresh, salt, or chlorinated water for any amount of time. Although your tattoo can be washed, I would not recommend baths, showers only for about 2 weeks if possible. Soaking your tattoo in water can affect the healing process, which will directly result in a messed up tattoo.

If you have any complications and/or reactions, please feel free to come in person and let me look at your tattoo. I will direct you to a proper method of dealing with your tattoo free of charge.

Remember, your tattoo is an investment, take care of your investment!!!
